Hydrometallurgical Processing

The working group for hydrometallurgical processing methods deals with the processing of both primary and secondary raw materials. The application of hydrometallurgical processes such as solvent extraction and ion exchange opens up new avenues in resource recovery. The working group's approach is not limited to individual processes, but aims to develop comprehensive and sustainable recycling strategies.
Research focuses on complex mining and smelting residues, in particular slag, as well as the highly relevant recycling of valuable metals from lithium-ion batteries.
The combination of theoretical knowledge and practical application creates a bridge between basic research and industrial practice. The group's work not only helps to conserve natural resources, but also supports industry in implementing efficient and environmentally friendly recycling processes. This represents a decisive contribution to the circular economy and to reducing the environmental impact of waste and is actively committed to a sustainable future.
