Stack Revolution

Project Description:

The aim of the joint project "StaR" is to reduce the manufacturing costs for alkaline electrolysers to a value significantly below the current market forecasts for 2030 by developing a production-optimised stack design. An essential aspect for achieving this goal is the selection of materials as well as the cell and stack design. By means of experimental characterisations on the material, cell and stack level, foundations are laid for the selection of suitable concepts and the success of the development status is evaluated. Within the framework of the project, we analyse and quantify the potential environmental impacts as well as the CO2 saving potentials and resource efficiencies of the newly developed stacks by means of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA).
